Breast Cancer is the most prevalent cancer

Breast Cancer is the most prevalent cancer. Approximately 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer and 685,000 died globally in 2020. While there has been a huge focus and investment in breast cancer treatments, unfortunately not a lot has been done for early diagnosis. ANSEA’s report on “Breast Cancer Mortality” illustrates the global burden of breast cancer, talks about the disproportionate focus on treatment vs earlier diagnosis, the need to shift the focus from treatment to early diagnosis, outlines the barriers to breast cancer screening, raises questions and solicits inputs on addressing the barriers to breast cancer screening.
